Start Dating!
Finding good dates online works most effectively when you're honest and put as much of yourself as possible into your online dating site profile. On the other hand, there are certain things that don't necessarily make a good first impression on an online dating site and which prospective dates just don't need to know right off the bat. And please, never put your phone number or address into your online dating site profile. You want to be able to choose who's able to contact you outside of the online dating site and email!
It is certainly useful to post a general description of what type of date you're looking for as part of your online dating site profile. That does not mean, however, that you should describe all the details of the ideal mate you have been searching for since childhood. If you set the bar too high on your online dating site profile, you won't get very many responses and you might just miss the right date for you. Just because he/she doesn't currently have a dog, or like horror movies, or share your love of Indian food, isn't necessarily a good enough reason to exclude him/her from your search.
When you meet someone for the first time you're not very likely to talk about your horrible divorce, the bad habits of the last three people you dated, or why no one is ever good enough for you. So why would you put those things in your online dating site profile? Once you move beyond the online dating site you'll still have plenty of time to dredge up old emotional baggage if you feel like you need to, but keep it out of your online dating site profile or you may never get the opportunity!
Okay, first of all it should be obvious that you don't want to include pictures of you and old boyfriends or girlfriends in your online dating site profile. What may be less obvious is that people viewing your online dating profile pictures don't necessarily know that the cute guy with his arm around you is your brother! Be careful who is in the pictures you display on your online dating site. Furthermore, if you have fun pictures of you and your friends doing great activities together, it might be prudent to ask your friends before using the pictures. While dating is fabulous, you certainly don't want to inadvertently upset your friends.
