Online Dating Reviews and Advice
Why Dates from Online Dating Sites are Better
There's a lot of bad press out there about online dating sites, and there are also a lot of counter-arguments (some of which you'll find on this site) as to why an online dating site can actually be a wonderfully successful way to find a date or a long-term love. But I think the argument should be taken one step further. I believe there are some good reasons that online dating sites are not just a valid way to find someone special, but rather that online dating sites are a better way to find someone than traditional matchmaking or party hopping methods.
Online dating sites offer Choice
First of all, online dating sites provide a much larger range of choices when it comes to dating. Not only does each individual online dating site have tons of prospective dates in all areas, there are also online dating sites that specifically cater to people with certain characteristics. If you're Jewish and it's important to you to find someone who shares your faith there's an online dating site built strategically for that purpose (JDate to be specific). You then have a world of choice of prospective dates who all meet a certain set of criteria.
Online dating sites offer more Information
Besides choice, online dating sites give you a ton more information than your standard date-finding methods. You don't usually have all that much opportunity to talk at a party and you don't always get to or are too shy to ask the questions you'd like answers to. And if you met the date through a friend then you only get to hear what they choose to tell you however good their intentions.
On the flip side, with an online dating site you can access a wealth of information (not to mention a picture or two) with a couple of clicks. From likes and dislikes to life goals and what kind of partner he/she is searching for, online dating sites answer some of the deeper questions before you even talk to or meet prospective dates.
Online dating sites cut out the matchmaker
And finally, online dating sites help you avoid any of the awkward social or political ramifications which often accompany being set up on a date by a friend, family member, or coworker. You don't have to explain to them why it didn't work out. You aren't pressed for details you don't want to give. And if you ever have a bad breakup, you don't force the matchmaker to pick a side and cause all sorts of awkwardness. Online dating sites were a great invention if you ask me!
