This is the age-old dating question. Although in today's society, with the advent of the internet and online dating sites, it has transformed from not only: Why hasn't my date called? to: Why hasn't my date texted, emailed, or IMed? This perpetual dating mystery is now online and off! Whether waiting for a response by telephone or through communications on an online dating site, the question remains the same. Here are some possible explanations.
How long has it been since your last date or online dating site communication?
Depending on who you're dating, people have very different notions of time. If you've only been waiting for a day, it's not worth worrying about why your date hasn't called! Furthermore, when you last spoke, in person or online, did your date mention any upcoming travel? Did he/she seem preoccupied with work or other stress? All of these factors can make telephones, emails, and online dating site communications easy to postpone or neglect. Being preoccupied is not an excuse, rather a realistic reason why your date might be delinquent in contacting you.
What was the tone of your last date or online message?
Do both of you seem to enjoy dating, offline or online, or are you the only one having a good time? It may sound terrible, but really stop and think about it for a moment. Are you sure your date seemed as interested in continuing the relationship as you are?
Call your date or move on.
Whatever you think the answer to the question of why your date hasn't contacted you may be, eventually you need to stop wondering and worrying and call or email him/her yourself. Maybe your date has been waiting for you to call and is morosely watching his/her online dating site inbox.
Or, if not, at least you'll know the answer. Either you and your date can reconnect and schedule a new online dating site chat or real-world date, or you will at least find out all the sooner that he/she's not interested. You can then hop back onto your favorite online dating site and meet all the other great fish in the online sea.
